WHERE GOOD IDEAS SOUND BETTER

Yellow Armadillo Studios works with people who have something real to say and want it to land. We’ve partnered with doctors, academics, and creative teams to turn raw conversations into polished, intentional podcasts that reflect the weight of the ideas behind them.

Anyone can hit record. What comes next – the structure, the pacing, the tone, the detail, the quality – is what separates something passable from something people actually want to keep listening to.

We’re currently closed to new editing and production work, but we offer feedback sessions to help you understand what’s working, what’s not, and how to move forward with clarity and confidence.

Shows WE’Ve Worked On

  • “Melody is your superpower. I always tell guests at the beginning of a podcast recording that Melody is very, very skilled at making us sound smart - and it’s the absolute truth. Whether you’re practiced in audio or new to it, she’ll meet you where you are. She’s also a great communicator, reliable, and a joy to work with - a true creative partner. I can’t recommend her highly enough."

    —Anne Helen Petersen
Author of the Culture Study newsletter and podcast, and host of “Work Appropriate

  • "I've worked with Melody on three podcasts, and I can honestly say that none of them would have worked without her. She is an expert producer who goes above and beyond to smooth out audio, inject creative transitions and closings, and clip episodes to sound seamless. But more than that, she takes the initiative to suggest ways to make the shows better -- providing voice coaching and episode planning tips, audience engagement ideas, and promotional devices. She has also been available for on-the-fly podcasting developments. Melody is reliable, creative, and incredibly skilled in media. I wouldn't want to work with anyone else.”

    —Leah Litman
Professor of law at University of Michigan, co-host of “Strict Scrutiny

  • “Melody Rowell is an audio whiz. While she was a great asset to me on several work projects when I worked at KCUR, her single biggest lift for me was editing a one-hour special that I produced as part of my Pulitzer Grant project in 2019. Her deadline was extremely tight, but she was able to transform a bit of a hot mess to a sizzling, sharply-focused audio compilation involving reporting from three continents. In addition to what she brings to the work itself, Melody walks the thin line of being completely professional yet fun to work with.”

    —Michelle Tyrene Johnson
Associate Producer at WFPL, and producer/host of “Race Unwrapped

  • "Co-creation and creative collaborations are, in my opinion, large acts of trust. Getting a transcription made by a human like Melody, is like letting someone rummage through my messy drawers every time. She hears everything...the total, beautiful, ugly mess. She's both clinical and insightful, accurate and fast. Her transcriptions are invaluable to building out a story, especially in the long form. Melody is discreet, she has a pro's ear and a listener's heart which, as a producer, I trust and rely upon."

    —Ali Berlow
Author and radio producer, co-host of “What Is American Food?

  • "Melody is a GODSEND! The vibe and energy from our initial conversation made me feel comfortable and open to be transparent about my podcast. As they say, the devil is in the details, and Melody's feedback definitely provided that along with some encouragement to dream bigger with my podcast."

—Ken Cheadle, Entrepreneur, life coach, and host of “The Adverse Effect

  • "We tried doing a podcast on our own, but working with Melody took us to the next level. She transformed a decent idea into something with enough polish to help us capture more discerning listeners. From planning shows to promotion, Melody is engaged every step of the way to make sure we have what we need to make the show work. Anytime I have an idea for a podcast project, Melody will be my first call.”
